What the hell is OSS?

OSS is not Open Source Software

OSS stands for Operational System Shock

OSS is a form of modelling. That is it is a way of making a simplification of a problem.

To use an analogy, a road map is a model of the terrain between you and your destination. the map helps you choose how to move. OSS is a roadmap, which you make of something which is causing you problems. OSS helps you choose where to poke it so it stops.

In other words, OSS helps you break stuff.

OSS can also be used to support creative and peaceful negotiation, meaning OSS can help you NOT break stuff.
